Danielle La Porte is gentle, fierce, perceptive, warm, sassy and smart. And she tells it like it is.
I spoke with her about “The Firestarter Sessions”, her story and what she thinks “extraordinary” is, and you can watch the interview right here.
I honestly could have chatted with her for hours, because she not only knows what she’s talking about and is always ready with a huge smile, but (at the risk of sounding like a stalker) there’s a texture to her voice that’s just delightful.
Watch the interview now and you’ll find out:
- Why she started with the whole “Firestarter” thing
- Why lessons are useless and the one thing you need to do to make them useful
- How she makes massive decisions in life
- What she wanted to be as a child and what the 6 year old Danielle would think of where she’s at today
- How to get past the difficulty in doing what comes easily and naturally
- Why she runs up the stairs every morning
- How she figures out what to do next
- What she says the secret to an extraordinary life really is

I do so love passionate people
She rocks doesn’t she? People with energy and belief around what they’re doing are my favourite too.
Wow, this was such an awesome interview! Thank you Steve for featuring the lovely Danielle, she totally rocks. I’m on my second reading of The Fire Starter Sessions and each session just blows my mind.
I guess my biggest take-away from this interview is the call for courage to be who you truly are and follow the path that calls to you, EVEN WHEN it might piss people off or make you look crazy or just be a sheer “WTF am I doing?” kinda thing.
I believe we’re here to be ourselves, to be the sweetest, hottest, fullest versions of ourselves, and we can’t do any of that if we lack the courage to follow our dreams and go for what we want. We also need the courage to believe that our dreams and desires are worth fighting for and we are worthy of having them met.
I think a lot of people hold back from pursuing their dreams because they believe they don’t deserve it and who are they to challenge the status quo. At the end of the day, though, it all boils down to how badly you desire something and what you’ll do to make it happen.
After all, it takes courage to make extraordinary change, right?
So my take-away is definitely have the courage to be your true self, not who others say or think you should be, and also be bold enough to pursue your dreams with every ounce of energy in your soul.
Thanks so much again for sharing this with us! Totally made my night.
It sure does require something special to make extraordinary change – I call it natural confidence, and the ability to be courageous comes right along with that!
(And it’s something everyone has, which makes it all the sweeter.)
Love your comment and energy – thrilled you enjoyed it
